“Every man stamps his value on himself…man is made great or small by his own will.” ~J. C. F. von Schiller
Self-effacement severs optimism. Staying in the background limits your potential. Evading possibilities, because others don’t see or know your potential, is self-destructive.
Exude ownership. Own your dreams and your talent. They were not given to you to hide nor to upstage another. You can and should declare your abilities. Let the world know you are gifted.
Paul A. Meyers says, “Determine what specific goals you want to achieve. Then dedicate yourself to its attainment with unswerving singleness of purpose, the trenchant zeal of a crusader.” Be your own crusader, own your destiny.
Accept praise, rather than always efface yourself by rebuffing a compliment. Moderation, balance-don’t go to the polar opposite either by always loudly tooting your own horn. Let your skill and talent speak for you. But if you do not toot your own horn sometimes, don’t expect others to strike up the band either.
Let your talents and gifts shine.
