Obstacle 82: Pride

“The ego needs recognition. The spirit does not need to thank itself.” ~Stuart Wilde

Pride promotes self.  Mirror, mirror  on the wall, who’s the proudest of them all? Let it not always be you who is full of puffery.  Self-centered pride is vain.

Pride has its place. Be proud when you have done well, it builds esteem. But, also be proud of the accomplishments of other people, that builds compassion.

If you would rather die than ask for help, you have too much pride. If you are overly suspicious or extra cautious, viewing eveyone as a competitor, then you have too much pride. If you find it difficult to compliment others, your pride is an obstacle.

Don’t be mis-directed by the facade of pride. If you have done your best, the world will recognize it. If you helped someone, the universe wiill reward you. If you have shared and given what you have, the heavens rejoice with you. That’s enough.

Pride is earthy.

“Never let pride be your guiding principle. Let your accomplishments speak for you.” ~Morgan Freeman
