Obstacle 44: Garrulity

“Stumbling with your feet is safer than stumbling with your tongue.” ~Arabic Proverb

Garrulity guarantees isolation.  Talk. Talk. Talk. Talk, talk, talk. Talking too much offends and is often a mask for nervousness. Settle your discomfort by listening more. Tune into others, initiate conversation rather than a one-sided dialogue.

Successful people know this rule, they listen.  And, they talk substantively so that like E. F. Hutton, when they do talk-people listen.

Silence is not a phobia.  Reticence is okay, you may learn something.  Calm your nerves. Practice reciprocal listening; show interest in others and their affectations. Win as a communicator-one who talks and listens.
