“Friendship is always a sweet responsibility, never an opportunity.” ~Kahlil Gibran
Friends fertilize dreams. Make new friends, but keep the old. One is silver and the other is gold. This old Girl Scout adage is true; you can distinguish your friendships by asking: Are my friendships golden or even silver? If not, they are not precious enough to keep.
Friendships matter, at least the healthy relationship with those who fertilize your dreams matter but not those that drain you and siphon your success energy. And, remember friendship is a reciprocal relationship. Are you fertilizing the dreams of your friends?
What better mastermind than a friend who is courageous, honest, and smart enough to share clear, valuable input. What is not good is someone in your life, especially a friend, who is toxic, badgering, fearful, envious or negative most of the time.
Not all friendships are eternal. If a friend relationship sours, move one. Don’t hang on to outworn, draining friendships out of obligation. Release them and yourself.
Count your silver and gold.
