“Nothing is impossible; there are ways that lead to everything, and if we had sufficient will we should always have sufficient means. It is often merely for an excuse that we say things are impossible.”
~Francois La Rochefoucauld
EXCUSES evaporate energy. They will soon zap your success plan and eventually instigate stagnation.
Excuses interest no one except your competition. The words: “I know, but” or “If only” or “It’s not my fault” appended to a reason all contribute to the excuse pool no matter how honest your reply is. If it looks like an excuse, acts like an excuse, or sounds like an excuse-wake up! It’s an excuse!
Stop making excuses-take responsibility. In The Four Agreements Don Miguel Ruiz writes that we must deliberately:
- Be impeccable with your word
- Don’t take anything personally
- Don’t make assumptions
- Always do your best
Agree to no more excuses.
