Obstacle 11: Bitterness

Bitterness bans happiness. Happiness and bitterness are irreconcilable opposites. One who is bitter is never happy. Whereas, one who is happy is never bitter.

Success is sweet, thus you cannot be bitter and expect success. Winners use bitter experiences to their advantage as part of their motivation to excel; they do not dwell on the unpleasant things of life.

Health problems, sour relationships, loneliness, and deceit are all possible by-products of bitterness.  Asperity weakens faith or “self-compassion” as cognitive therapist Leila McKay writes.

If you are bitter at heart, even success is not sweet. There are no justifiable resentments…let it go! Banish bitterness, live joyously.

Be at peace-especially be at peace within yourself.

Opportunity Step: Write a poem. Be happy today!
